Tim Denson for Athens Mayor Campaign Starts 2026 with Grassroots Momentum

ATHENS, GA — At the December 31 reporting period, the Tim Denson for Athens Mayoral campaign announces that it surpassed internal benchmarks for its 2025 outreach and fundraising initiatives. Driven by an affordability  platform and community-led approach, the campaign demonstrated the power of grassroots organizing by hitting milestones in individual donor participation and volunteer engagement.

Power in Numbers: A Community-Funded & Community-Powered Movement

The Tim for Athens campaign has prioritized small-dollar donations from Athenians, ensuring the movement remains beholden to the residents of Athens rather than special interest groups.

The campaign proudly reports:

  • 222 Individual Contributions:

    • Average donation amount of $78.44

    • 95% of donations are amounts under $200

    • 80% of donations received are from Athens-Clarke County residents

    • 90% of donations received are from Georgia residents

“I’m proud that this campaign is funded by the small-dollar donations of working-class people of Athens,” said Tim Denson. “Athenians are supporting this movement to lower housing costs, make childcare accessible to more families, and reduce homelessness in Athens. We will win this race, not with a small handful of individuals writing big checks, but with the hard work and support of the people of Athens.”

  • Over 120 Volunteer Shifts:

    • More than 3,000 doors knocked

    • 8 community meetings in every part of Athens-Clarke County

    • Multiple special events and volunteer recruitment meetings

"It is amazing to see so many Athenians stepping up to build a movement to make Athens affordable and accessible for all. These numbers show that we are having conversations at people’s doors, building relationships at kitchen tables, and working with Athenians across the entire County,” said Tim Denson. “That is not only how this campaign operates but this is how I will operate when elected as Mayor."
